#1.I agree with you that being in a bad neighborhood can Affect how you are if you let it.
I think even if Luis lived in a better neighborhood that if his brothers still were involved with gangs that he could as well.
#2.I agree with you that their relationship isn't of to a good start! Nikki has to many trust issues.
I as well love this love story in general, it keeps me on my toes.
#3.I can see what you mean about groups at school and agree that their are people who are total opposites but still together,

I really like your reasoning for choosing that book, I was also interested in reading that book as well.

Independent reading unit:
I would like to read the book Chain Reaction because I feel like I could relate to it on a personal level. I anticipate that the book will have a lot of heartbreak, tears, drama and a lot of modern situations that happen in the life of kids in my generation. If I didn't get this book I would also be interested in reading Before I die because I have heard a lot of good things and it sounds like a really good book and an interesting read.
4. Chain Reaction
I liked this book very much because I could relate to it on a personal level because I have been in a relationship that wasn't approved by my parents and can see how Luis and Nikki might have felt.I have never read the other books in this series but I enjoyed this one very much. I plan to finish this book and possibly check out others similar to it.
3. Chain Reaction
I see a lot of couples who are together but are not suppose to be or not allowed to be together. My opinion on this is if you love somebody, you should be with them. If you don't know what's good and bad for you then you have to learn the hard way. Some people think you shouldn't be together if your not the same race or religion but I see this happen all the time at my school and I see those couples have a hard time with constantly being judged by others. Advice I would give to these couples would be to do what your heart tells you and if that person makes you happy then forget what everybody says.
2. Chain reaction
Luis and Nikki's relation ship had its pros and its cons to it. I think their relationship would work because her parents like Luis and Luis isn't really just like all the other Mexican boys. Luis and Nikki also had very good chemistry unlike her and Marco. The cons to their relationship would include trust issues, Nikki still having feelings for Marco and Luis ability to be faithful to her.
1. Chain Reaction
Most of my life I grew up in Chicago and I wasn't one who usually did what everybody else was doing because I liked to be unique. I can relate to Luis Fuentes in the story because I can see how where you live can affect your life. People would judge me based on what race I was, where I was from and where I lived just as they did to Luis Fuentes. I think growing up in a certain area can affect your life because of the people who live there and the things they do affect what is happening with you in your life.

If only..
"Miss Mayella, I am going to ask you once more. Does your father beat you?" -bang,bang,pow,pow- A silence shuts the courtroom as everyone is still and sees Tom Robinson at the desk bleeding with shots in his chest.
"The case was just about to be cracked!" yelled Jem.
"What happened Jem, I cant see anything from up here".
"They shot Tom" said Jem. The courtroom is still in a silence when people see Bob Ewell standing with a gun in his hand dripping sweat from his forehead. The courtroom went from dead silence to an erruption of fear and comotion as Bob points the gun towards Atticus and threatens to shot if anyone follows him and Mayella to flee. The pastor from the black church describes to Jem and scout exactly what is happening although scout doesent comprehend much of it.
"Tom Robinson has been wrongly accused of beating Mayella, it was her father! Bob and Mayella escape through the courtroom doors in shame for lieing infront of all these people of Maycomb and wrongly accusing Tom Robinson and killing him. Police officers place a hunt for Bob and Mayella but when they arrive at their house, it is burning down to the ground and from the faint screams in distance, everyone knew Bob did this and took his children with him. A mob starts to appear at Bob Ewells house.
"Why do people do things like this Atticus?"
"Well honey, its hard to explain to you right now, but just know theirs a big world with some bad people in it, but you know right from wrong babygirl".
Firefighters arrive and try to go into the house and save some of the children but it was already too late, all that was left was bones and scrapes of burned clothing. A momment of silence is shed for Bob Ewells children and a faint sound of an ambulance is near as everyone reunites as the courthouse and see's Tom taken away.
"Daddy, I understand why we dont kill mockingbirds now" said scout.

The Truth of the Matter
Mayella Ewell
How frequently does your dad hit his children?
-I would ask this to see if Bob Ewell was capable of harming Mayella himself
Have you had any sexual interactions with Tom Robinson before this incident
-I would ask this to see if it was possible that the sex was consentual
Do you find Tom Robinson attractive?
-I would ask this to see if it was maybe Mayella that came on to him
Has anyone hit you in the past before?
-I would ask this to see if someone else could have been the cause to her injuries
Do you fear your father?
-I would ask this to see if she was possibly lying in fear of her father and what he might do if she told the truth
How did you meet Tom Ribinson?
-I would ask this because if they had built a relationship before this incident to see if she has had relations with Tom Robinson and for how long
Why would you invite Tom Robinson into your home if you knew how racist your father was?
-I would ask this because it could be possible Mayella dident expect to get caught in the act of what she was really doing
Have you ever rebelled to make your father angry?
-I would ask this to see if Mayella may have had relations with Tom Robinson to upset her father for beating her since he is a racist.
Do you have any feelings towards Tom Robinson?
-I would ask this to see how she reacts to the question or gets nervous.
When is the last sexual expierence you had before this altercation?
-I would ask this to see if Mayella is permiscuous and was having sex with Tom Robinson willingly.

Bravery and Courage
In To Kill a Mockingbird i think emotional strentgh can constitute bravery or courage. Ms. Dubose was truly suffering and had to be a very strong person to keep waking up everyday. I think Atticus is the most courageous person in the book so far because even after loosing his wife he still has a great job and is supportive of his kids which isn't the easiest thing to do as a single father. I think firefighters and policemen and the most courageous or brave people i know in my life because they risk their life everyday for the benefit and safety of others.

The 1930's in America
The Great Depression was a severe worldwide economic depression in the decade preceding World War II. The timing of the Great Depression varied amoung nations, in most countries it started in 1930 and lasted until the late 1930s or middle 1940s. It was the longest, most widespread, deepest depression of the 20th century. Herbert Hoover, a Republican, was president when the Great Depression began. He infamously declared in March 1930 that the U.S. had “passed the worst” and argued that the economy would sort itself out. The worst, however, had just begun and would last until the outbreak of WWII. Chicago gangster Al Capone , in one of his attempts at public relations, opened a soup kitchen during the Great Depression. For millions, soup kitchens provided the only food they would see all day.The Wall Street Crash of 1929 was one of the main causes of the Great Depression. “Black Thursday,” “Black Monday,” and “Black Tuesday” are all terms to describe the Crash because the crash occurred over several days, with Tuesday being the most devastating. After the initial crash, there was a wave of suicides in the New York. It was said that the clerks of one hotel even started asking new guests if they needed a room for sleeping or jumping.
The board game Monopoly, which first became available in 1935, became popular because players could become rich, at least in their imagination. The “Three Little Pigs“—released May 27, 1933, and produced by Walt Disney was seen as symbolic of the Great Depression, with the wolf representing the Depression and the three little pigs representing average citizens who eventually succeeded by working together.During the Great Depression, a record 60-80 million Americans went to the movies every week. One of the biggest blockbusters was Merian C. Cooper’s 1933 King Kong. Other popular movies included The Wizard of Oz and Gone with the Wind.

fashion in the 15th century
In 15th entury Europe, fashion involved a series of extremes and extravagances, from the voluminous gowns called houppelandes with sweeping floor-length sleeves to the revealing doublets and hose of Renaissance Italy. Hats, hoods, and other headdresses assumed increasing importance, and were swagged, draped, jewelled, and feathered.
As Europe continued to grow, the urban middle classes, skilled workers, began to wear more complex clothes, at a distance, the fashions set by the elites. National variations in clothing seem on the whole to have increased over the 15th century
Women's fashions of the 15th century consisted mostly of a long gown, usually with sleeves, worn over a kirtle or undergown, with a linen chemise or smock worn next to the skin. The long-waisted silhouette of the previous period was replaced by a high-waisted style with fullness over the belly, often confined by a belt. The wide, shallow scooped neckline was replaced by a V-neck, often cut low enough to reveal the decorated front of the kirtle beneath.

Jealousy

In my opinion the definition of Jealousy is an emotion and typically refers to the negative thoughts and feelings of insecurity, fear, and anxiety over an anticipated loss of something that the person values, particularly to a human connection. Jealousy often includes a combination of presenting emotions such as anger, resentment, helplessness and disgust. Jealousy is distinct from envy, though the two words have popularly become similar in the English language.
I feel that the pictures I choose are symbollic of jealousy because they show anger, envy, sadness or suspicion of another person and what they are doing I the picture. These are all common traits invloved with jealousyThursday, January 31, 2013

Raisin in the sun
In Raisin in the Sun the younger had to deal with racial issues and money problems. Personally iv never had to expierence what they did but i have had a friend that has. I was in about 4th grade and my friend was african american. Everyone in my mostly white catholic school looked apon her differently and i never u derstood why. In Raisin in the Sun I think the fact that the youngers had to endure criticism from a neighborhood they havent even moved into yet was so wrong. As for the money problems seeing walter blow his dads money and still have his family love and support him really touched me. In modern day society, famalies can get riped apart from financial issues. Walter had said at the end that him and his family were a very proud people, and indeed i agree with him. Ms.Younger and such a giving person for putting her family before her self was truely inspiring.

achieveing the american dream
Once iv achieved the American Dream my life would be perfect bliss drama and stress free, I would be living on the coast of Dominican republic in a house with a beautiful view of the ocean and i would have my dream job of being a lawyer. A typical day for me would be waking up taking my dog for a walk along the beach then coming home to get ready for work and have dinner with the family in the afternoon. My family and friends would be close to me and we would all get along. My house would be big but not extravagant. Achieveing the American dream of freedom and equality would make this life happy and enjoyable because it would go as i pleased and i wouldent have the stress of judgement or being uncomfortable with how society is.

American Dream
The first author defines the "American Dream" as a shared dream in which men and women attain "the fullest stature of which they are capable" without trampling one another. The second author differs his opinion by saying the "American Dream" is the idea of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and attached it to one's ability to move up the ladder. The two authors definition of the idea is different by the first authors definition is more ideal and about equality by that it doesn't involve the strenuous work of trying the attain money and a status like the second author infers. The first author uses history and facts to support their definition and the second uses moral and todays buisness life. I think personally the first author was more trustworthy and knew what he was talking about. He convinced me that equality is more important than money because the American Dream would not be realistic to be based on money and level in the community. I feel the tecnique the first author used with facts and history and research worked best because it got the point across more clearly and was convincing.
