Genocide in kosovo

genocide in kosovo

I was astonished when i read that this article was about The genocidal assault launched against Kosovo's civilian population in 1998-1999, they targeted mainly the earlier serb campaigns in Bosnia. From gender perspective, a strong trend was obvious in the expulsion of women, children and the elderly. Sexual assault was carried on the younger Kosovar women and the targeting of the"battle-age" male population for mass execution, detention and torture. These soldiers would kill their victims them mercilessly take them to improvised operation room and remove their organs for the organs trade and let them die on the operating table

I think the whole idea about kidnapping helpless victims from their home and killing them then taking out their organs in completely horrific. It makes me feel completely helpless that these people had no idea what was going to happen to them and not knowing where they were going was most likely confusing and terrifying. For these soldiers to actually take the families, im-prison them and then take the youngest and strongest for their own selfish use is so inconsiderate and heartless. These men had no type of sympathy for even the younger women, they would sexual assault them and take their kids for torture. As if the men had not already robbed them of everything they had, they still had the nerve to even take their organs for the national organ trade in Albania, leaving them to die after. This genocide in my opinion is extremely cruel and horrific compared to most.

Introduction to Night

Yesterday after taking the pretest and then watching the interview with Oprah, I learned about what truly happen during the time of the holocaust. During the discussion between Elie and Oprah what struck me most was when I saw all the shoes, suitcases and mountains of hair in the preserved area of the block. It was unimaginable trying to think of how one human being could do that to another. I found it really powerful when Elie took Oprah into the hut he slept in with hundreds of bunk beds. It must have been hard for him to have all those memories come back and endure the pain and to imagine the sad faces he once knew. I would like to know if Elie ever got anything positive from being in the death camp. I learned that the soldiers would take the prisoners clothing and valuables for their own use and use their hair to make clothing. I feel alot closer to Elie now after seeing the interview and hearing his subtle voice and trying to imagine the pain he must have went through loosing his entire family. I am anticipating a better look into the Holocaust while reading Night, I would like to get a better perspective on how the prisoners endured what they went through.
I don't think its physically nor emotionally possible to imagine or feel what these holocaust victims went through, but getting to see Oprah and Elie actually walk through the Death Camp was a life changing experience to see. I wish I could get the chance to talk to Elie and get a better inter-opinion on some of the relationships he formed with others in the camp weather they were good or bad. It would be interesting to just see all the items left behind of those holocaust victims in this interview.

As a reader...

As a reader, I'm interested in different varieties of books. I love to read and one of my favorite genres to read is Mystery because of the unknowing excitement in the plot. I don't necessarily have any favorite books but I enjoyed reading the Twilight series. I don't really like the books that are Monga because of how they are written backwards. The book I am reading now is called Matched, it is a Sci-fi book. This book is about a girl who has to be arranged to marriage and isn't allowed to make her own choices but is then faced with the decision to decide who she wants to be with. I found it interesting and intriguing that it was written about the future in some sense.
While reading Matched, its made me more interested in learning about marriages in India, because over there they actually have arranged marriages. I would like to learn more about the life of these people and what they go through having to have their choices and the person they are to be with chosen for them. Reading this book is making me feel a great sense of freedom that I can actually make decisions by my self and have a freedom of speech. This book is really working up ideas in my mind
